Little Falls, NJ (11/14/2015) – The Anxiety & Depression Initiative (ADI) was the beneficiary of a fundraising effort by the Summit Men’s Team, which culminated with a hike to the summit of Slide Mountain, the tallest peak in the Catskill Mountains. After an impressive fundraising effort that raised $4,300, a group of 9 men and women hiked to the summit despite some challenging weather conditions. The temperatures were cold, with heavy winds and periodic snow showers throughout the day.

The Summit, a team affiliated with the Motomo Nation, is civic-minded group that actively tries to lead greater lives through making a difference in the lives of others. Steve McNeilly, captain of The Summit explained, “Our team sets out to fundraise for a nonprofit organization or cause we believe in, as a part of our quest to lead greater lives. This fall, we chose to focus our efforts on the Anxiety & Depression Initiative, a nonprofit organization with a mission in line with our own values“. Matthew Miller, Chairperson of the ADI’s Board of Trustees added, “We at the Anxiety & Depression Initiative are fortunate to be the beneficiary of The Summit’s generosity, for which we are very grateful“.

With the money that it raises through fundraising campaigns like this one, the ADI plans to bring about a variety of programs to help inform the community about the positive effects that physical activity can have on anxiety, depression and related disorders and support the community in the use of physical activity. It ultimately seeks to promote the benefits of an active and healthy lifestyle, to provide general information about mental health resources and to overall help lessen the stigmas associated with anxiety, depression and related disorders.

Events – The Summit of Mount Slide

The members of The Summit Men’s Team (a part of the Motomo Nation) have made the generous decision raise money for the Anxiety & Depression Initiative.

To further demonstrate their commitment to the cause, they will be climbing Mt. Slide in the Catskills in November. They have set a goal of raising $4,180, which represents $1 for each foot that the summit sits above sea level. Let’s do what we can to help them to reach this goal.

We at the ADI applaud their charitable spirit and are both committed to helping them to raise the money and will have representatives hiking to the summit by their side.

Please consider donating to this worthy cause via the The Summit of Mt. Slide fundraiser on Crowdrise.. Every little bit counts.

Help us to get to 4,180 feet!!

Little Falls, NJ (07/06/2015) – The Anxiety & Depression Initiative is proud to announce that it has received notification that it is recognized by the IRS as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. This is the culmination of a significant efforts to get to this point and is a huge milestone in the organization’s goal to become sustainable and impactful in carrying out its mission to promote and support the use of a healthy and active lifestyle to help in managing the symptoms of anxiety & depression.

Designation as a 501(c)(3) charitable organization has many benefits. Some of these benefits are as follows: First, it is further affirmation and federal recognition that the mission of the Anxiety & Depression Initiative is in-fact charitable; Second, it makes contributions to the organization tax deductible; Third, it exempts the organization from income and sales taxes. It also helps us to qualify for a variety of grants only available to non-profit charitable organizations.

The Anxiety & Depression Initiative is currently ramping up for its first charity bike ride, to be held on July 12, 2015. At the time of this release, almost $3,000 has been raised to help get the organization through some of its early steps in getting outreach programs started so that it can begin carrying out its important mission.

Press Release – Announcement of the Sweatin’ for a Start Fundraiser.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Contact: Press@TheADI.org

Little Falls, NJ (06/25/2015) – UPDATE: Due to a very poor weather forecast the Sweatin’ for a Start charity bike ride, scheduled for June 27th, has been postponed until July 12th. The Anxiety & Depression Initiative has put in a formal request with Mother Nature to have beautiful biking weather for that day.

———————————————————-

Little Falls, NJ (06/03/2015) – This week, the Anxiety & Depression Initiative announced its first charity bike ride “Sweatin’ for a Start” to raise money to support its mission and help get its much anticipated outreach programs started. The ADI plans to have a variety of free outreach programs that will help support individuals living with anxiety and depression in their quest to live more active lives. There is lots of evidence about the unquestionable benefits that physical activity has on the symptoms of anxiety and depression. The ADI is looking to create a forum to support and guide individuals as they look to harness this benefit.

To show their dedication to The ADI and its mission, the entire Board of Trustees has committed to take to their bikes on the New York State Bike Route 9, that runs from the George Washington Bridge to the US/Canadian border.

The Trustees will ride 1 mile for every $10 that is donated to The ADI through this fundraising campaign. As an additional bonus, any donations that are signed up as recurring monthly donations will double the impact on the mileage. That means for every $10 donated as recurring monthly payment, a Trustee will ride 2 miles for that donation. The total donation miles accumulated by the weekend of June 27th will be divided evenly among the 3 Trustees (up to 600 miles, or 200 miles for each Trustee).

The Trustees have also agreed to match donations dollar-for-dollar for the first $600. That means the first $600 in donations will really be a donation of $1,200 to The ADI and its mission. That will be a great start, but it does not have to stop there. There are a lot of costs associated with getting The ADI’s planned outreach programs started. The Trustees will keep on riding long after that as long as the donations keep coming in.
