Movement Changes Mental Health
Physical activity is one of the most effective — and most underinvested — tools for improving mental health. The Anxiety & Depression Initiative (ADI) exists to change that.
We fund community‑based nonprofit organizations that use physical activity to reduce anxiety, depression, and other symptoms associated with mental illness. In addition to making catalytic grants, we support advocacy and community‑awareness efforts that help elevate understanding of the mental health benefits of physical activity. Together, this work helps innovative ideas launch, grow, and reach people who would otherwise be left out.
Your support directly fuels this combined work of funding, advocacy, and community education.
Why Your Gift Matters
Mental‑health needs are rising. Community organizations are stepping up — but many lack the early funding required to turn good ideas into real impact.
The ADI closes that gap by:
- Funding movement-based mental-health programs with clear community impact
- Supporting research and education that focus on the mental health benefits of physical activity
- Advancing advocacy and awareness efforts that educate communities about the mental health benefits of physical activity
- Helping organizations develop, launch, or expand initiatives that build connection and well‑being
Every dollar you give helps move effective solutions from concept to community
How Your Donation Is Used
The ADI operates with no paid staff and minimal overhead, allowing us to focus our resources where they matter most. Your contribution is managed with care and transparency, with the vast majority of our spending directed toward grants that support innovative, community‑based projects.
- Grants to non-profit organizations promoting physical activity as a mental‑health intervention
- Advocacy and awareness efforts that educate communities about the mental health benefits of physical activity
- Program support such as equipment, facilitation, and participant access
- Essential operating costs required for compliance, insurance, and grant administration
We do not commit grant dollars until funds are received, and we do not draw down reserves to fund additional grants. This discipline protects both donors and grantees.
